My CIS Horror Story: What's up with eBay and PayPal?

My CIS Horror Story: What's up with eBay and PayPal?

I purchased an ink system for my EPson R1900 two months ago from eBay and really should have listened to my peers. Yes, it was cheap and that was the reason I bought it but the colors did not look anything like the original OEM's. The yellow was always clogging up. I contacted the seller to see if I can return it for an exchange but they kept telling me that I must have installed it wrong. I have had 2 other printers with CIS's on them that works perfectly so I know how these things work. I asked the seller to email me specific directions to install it but they never did and they did not answer whether or not I can get a refund or exchange.

I finally filed a claim with PayPal and 10 days later, PayPal tells me that this item is not covered under their buyer protection policy. And the reason was that I did not have enough proof that the system was not working as described. My judgement of the poor color quality did not justify that the system did not work as described. This was the biggest bunch of BS I've heard from PayPal yet. So now I'm stuck with a useless system and down $90. The lesson learned is that you get what you paid for.

If you are just looking for an ink system to print college term papers or presentations, getting one off of eBay may be fine. I purchased one from eBay just to print text presentations. But most people like myself own a t-shirt printing business and need a reliable pigment ink system to ensure that the colors will not fade from wash to wash. I spent over $250 on an ink system and it has lasted me over 2 years now. Certainly, I had to learn how it worked and tinkered around a bit to make it run smoothly from time to time, but like with any new piece of machinery, you take care of it and make the initial wise investment, it will pay for itself in the long run.
